Néroli House built its identity on scent — its name comes from the neroli oil that gave its original vitamin C serum a signature citrus note. So it's a quiet but significant shift that the reformulated version, released this month, drops fragrance entirely.
The brand says the change follows years of customer feedback from users with reactive or eczema-prone skin who loved the formula's brightening effect but couldn't tolerate the citrus oils. The new version keeps the same 15% L-ascorbic acid concentration and ferulic acid stabilizer, just without the aromatic finish.
It's a decision that runs against the instinct to keep a signature feature that differentiates a product on a crowded shelf. But it reflects a broader recalibration across the vitamin C category, where fragrance is increasingly treated as a liability rather than a selling point.
For long-time users, the serum will perform identically. For the sensitive-skin customers it was apparently alienating, it's now something they can actually use.
