The 2026 Venice Film Festival, which runs September 2 to 12, opened with a red carpet with an emphasis on tailoring and jewelry. Jury president Maggie Gyllenhaal arrived in a precisely tailored suit by The Row and later wore Celine at the opening ceremony on September 2.

Hello! magazine put Amal Clooney at the top of its best-dressed list in Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann with Cartier jewelry. Laura Dern appeared on several lists: at the screening of "Ink" on September 2 she wore Prada and Cartier jewelry, and other outlets noted looks by Emilia Wickstead and Alaïa across the opening days. Claire Foy wore Bottega Veneta and Swarovski jewelry to the same screening and the opening ceremony.

Rebecca Donaldson attended in a shimmering custom Giorgio Armani gown with fringe detail, while her partner, racing driver Carlos Sainz Jr., wore an Armani tuxedo. Kendall Jenner was photographed arriving at the airport in Chanel, Marion Cotillard also wore Chanel, and Phoebe Bridgers was named for a McQueen look. Hypebae singled out Irina Shayk for a serious take on power dressing.

The lists vary by outlet, so they are best read as a selection of the most-cited looks rather than a ranking. The lists reflect only the festival's opening days.

Reporting based on Hello!, W Magazine, Marie Claire, Hypebae and Harper's Bazaar coverage.
