Milan Spring 2027: Skirts Take Over, Bras Come Out and Leather Learns to Breathe

Milan's spring/summer 2027 womenswear week, which ran from roughly September 22 to 28, was dominated by one message according to fashion editors: skirts are back and trousers took a break. Prada built its show around knee-length skirts, and Who What Wear summed up the week as a victory for the skirt. Ferragamo showed a sheer skirt set, while Marni offered bejeweled versions.
Lingerie-inspired pieces were everywhere. At Prada, bras were paired simply with the skirts, while other houses layered them under suiting or let them peek out beneath dresses. Corsetry moved well beyond underwear as well: one designer treated a corset as a sharp-edged metallic sculpture, and Armani offered a restrained black-and-white bustier.
Houses leaned into their own identities rather than a single shared look. Bottega Veneta's Louise Trotter drew on the brand's craftsmanship and textiles, and Tod's showed perforated leather. Istituto Marangoni argued the season was defined by how pieces were combined rather than silhouettes: clashing prints, sweaters tied at the waist and even heels worn with tube socks.
Menswear took a practical turn. Leather persisted despite warm weather, with Prada pairing slim leather trousers with cropped jackets and other designers using woven or perforated leather to improve ventilation. Shirts were left unbuttoned and cuts became more fitted.
