Face-Framing Curtain Bangs Are Being Cut Shorter and Choppier for 2026

Curtain bangs have been one of the most consistently requested cuts of the last several years, prized for their soft, face-framing blend into the rest of a haircut without the commitment or maintenance a full fringe requires. The version gaining traction now is a noticeably shorter, choppier take on the same idea.
Where the original curtain bang blended seamlessly and grew out with minimal awkward stages, the shorter version being requested sits higher on the forehead with more deliberate texture and separation, reading as more editorial and less soft-focus than the style's original iteration.
Stylists note the shorter cut requires more frequent trims to maintain its shape, giving up some of the original curtain bang's signature low-maintenance appeal in exchange for a bolder, more distinct look.
It's the natural next step for a trend that has been in near-constant rotation long enough that a meaningful subset of clients are ready for a variation rather than the same soft shape they've maintained for several years running.
